Studies show that at least 85% or more of the world’s people suffer from some degree of lacking self-esteem. Although one might think that such challenges are only characteristic of the poor, uneducated, or lower socio-economic members of society, people from all walks of life can suffer situational or more widespread challenges with their levels of self-esteem.

Many very successful business people lack self-esteem in some areas of their lives. Perhaps they feel socially challenged or they have difficulty establishing close or intimate relationships. Perhaps they experience low self-esteem with regard to their physical appearance or their health. Perhaps they are not having any fun in their lives, maybe devoting too much attention to their work. Many “successful” people are driven to succeed. They compensate for feeling deficient in other areas of their lives by working harder and finding a place they can excel through their work. This provides them with a new focus where they can win but it doesn’t fulfill their neglected needs in other areas like relationships, recreation, personal and spiritual development, health and appearance and their ability to lead balanced, fun, and fulfilling lives.

It’s not that there is something wrong with finding an occupational niche where one can be successful and feel good about oneself. However, many of those lacking self-esteem in other areas find themselves driven to accomplish, driven to prove their worth. Since business is an area where they can shine, they neglect other areas to focus excessively on business.

However, since their actions are built upon the erroneous belief that they are somehow not good enough, somehow defective or unworthy of being fully loved and accepted, there is little lasting satisfaction even in the arenas where they can excel. It’s as though they are climbing a ladder with the top of the ladder in the clouds. They think that if they can just climb high enough, they will be successful. They will have proven their worth. They will find satisfaction, happiness, and fulfillment. However, as they climb higher and higher, they never seem to arrive. There are always new goals and objectives challenging them to prove their worth. The more they achieve, the more they have yet to go. Try as they will, they never seem to fully measure up. Or, if they do, it is short-lived and fleeting at best. There is no arriving to the point where they find what they long for so badly — the peace of mind that comes from self-love and self-acceptance.

Because the foundation of their ladder is grounded on quicksand, they often find themselves sinking as rapidly as they climb. In fact, from their perspective, they will never reach the perfection they seek so badly. They will always find evidence to highlight their flaws and reinforce their fears of being unworthy, unlovable, defective in some way.

The message upon which The Self-Esteem System is predicated is simple. No one needs to settle for a dimmed existence due to a lacking sense of self-worth. Most people either make up or buy into thoughts that there is something wrong with them, that they are somehow inadequate, not good enough and not worthy of being loved and accessing all the good things that life has to offer. If they are willing to examine their past to get to the source of their resignation and diminished self-esteem, they can reinterpret what happened to them in such a way that they can heal and complete the past and eliminate negative self-talk while making a conscious decision to live their lives from a decision to strive for excellence and contribute to others. By developing a firm belief that they can impact people and the world around them and that they are, in fact, very worthy of receiving life’s blessings, they will manifest happiness and fulfillment.

In addition to the cost of never finding true happiness, long-term fulfillment, or peace, lacking self-esteem impacts business people in many other ways. For example, by not getting to the source of their self-esteem issues, they sacrifice their personal power, their ability to best pursue their life purpose and fully manifest their gifts in the world. If our energy is spent by being preoccupied with our weaknesses or being incomplete with our past, we can never be fully present to today and so we sacrifice our true potential to bring about a result.

Our relationships suffer as we will misinterpret the words and actions of others in a way that invalidates us and has us feel badly about who we are. We may be so driven to prove we are good enough that we sacrifice our personal effectiveness and charisma by focusing on ourselves and our deficiencies rather than on the wants and needs of others. We may play small and hide out in social situations or whenever the possibility of looking bad or “being found out” comes up for us. Or, we may overcompensate and turn to workaholic tendencies out of a desire to prove our worth to others or to ourselves. Because of this misdirected focus, we trade our ability to impact others maximally and to best contribute our gifts to the world.

The answer to escaping the vicious cycle of lacking self-esteem, diminished confidence, and the never-ending, frustrating quest for fulfillment lies in the 3 step process I lay out in detail in The Self-Esteem Book. The process starts with healing one’s past so that it no longer robs us of energy and consumes our attention. Once the pull of past ghosts is complete, we can then turn our attention to properly analyzing our present state of affairs. We can identify what’s working in our lives and what’s missing to support living an upset-free life in choice, a life that honors our most important values and inspires us to live passionately.

And finally, we can take that magic wand that is our birth-right, wave it over our lives and design our future deliberately. We can choose to do so in a way that excites us, as we cast off that gloomy state of low self-esteem, unhealthy resignation and self-pity that no longer supports us. We can live with the intention to honor our God-given magnificence and lead happy, fulfilled lives that fully contribute to others as we share our gifts with the world.

The secret to manifesting wealth is really simple. It doesn’t require ten thousand affirmations or constant focus on your goal. In fact, those things can actually get in the way of your manifestation. Something that many people experience when trying to work with the Law of Attraction is that we focus too much and we try too hard. The key is learning to relax, let go and let things FLOW to you. When you are in the FLOW, you experience the “Freedom to Let go and Open up to Well Being.”

I had to learn the hard way how to get into my own financial FLOW. From my upbringing, one might expect that I might have no issues with finances. I was raised in an upper-middle class household. We lived on a lake and had season passes to the local ski resort every winter. We went on nice family vacations to places like Europe or Hawaii and when there was no food in the house, we would dine in my father’s steak and seafood restaurant. I had it pretty good.

The problem was, I was always dependent on someone else to support me, whether it was my parents or my employers or my husband who became my ex-husband. I never really had to worry about money and although I had been building my reputation in my field since 1998, I never had to rely on my work to actually support me. In fact, I was afraid to have to do it all on my own and those thoughts were at time paralyzing to me. I always had a cushion and someone to take care of me, that is until December 2009.

In December 2008 my ex-husband was laid off from work and when his $140K severance ran out in December of 2009, he filed for a modification of support to change his child support obligation from being based on his salary which peaked at $202K in 2008 to reflect the $24K he was earning from his unemployment insurance. Ultimately, in June 2010, despite a clause in our agreement that stated the child support obligation would never go below $3000/month, the judge decided retroactively to award my ex-husband a child support modification dating back to December when he filed, that reduced his obligation from $3000/month to $511/month. I was devastated and had no idea what to do. I felt completely steamrolled and wondered how the hell this happened.

I realized I did create the situation because I wanted to be free of my ex-husbands financial control over me but this was a huge lesson in “be careful what you wish for.” After being completely dependent upon other people my entire life, I felt completely incompetent to actually earn an income on my own. I didn’t really count the idea of working for someone else as being independent because all you had to do was show up for work and you got paid. This was different. I didn’t want to work for anyone else, I already had a name established in my industry and the most crushing thought I could think of was to give up my dream and get a job. I wanted to be financially independent and earning enough on my own to support my kids so that it didn’t matter what he did. I also wanted to set an example and show them that they can support themselves by following their dreams.

I started dedicating my days to realigning my relationship with money. I had to do tons of forgiveness work regarding my ex-husband and the judge. I had to forgive myself for getting into the situation and I had to somehow release my ideas that I couldn’t earn money on my own and I had to release the grip my need for money had on me.

I noticed that there were many things in my life that came pretty easily. For example, I was pretty good at manifesting fantastic men in my life. I was also great at manifesting things I wanted that didn’t really have monetary value, but were amazing and invaluable. I also was pretty great at manifesting circumstances and opportunities in my life but since there was no exchange of money, I looked at it differently, didn’t have as much attachment to it and it came pretty easily… and there was the key. Those things came easily because I was not attached to them. I just put my intention out there and VOILA! They showed up in my experience. I was in the FLOW in other parts of my life and I needed to learn how to FLOW money too.

I started releasing all of my attachments to money and eventually, my resentments fell away along with my extreme neediness. Synchronicity started taking over and people started showing up to help me on my path. As I started letting go and surrendering my need to control people and especially money, the universe took over and started to lead me in the right direction. I used my own signature process of identifying the core blocks that kept me stuck and one-by-one I used Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) to let go of everything that was standing in the way… and little by little, money began to FLOW!

When you are in the FLOW, you experience the “Freedom to Let Go and Open Up to Well Being.”

When you are flowing, you feel it… and when you are not, you feel it too. I’m going to help you understand what it feels like when you are in the flow, but first, I’m going to help you understand what it feels like when you are not in the FLOW and how to recognize it.

You feel a Lack of Freedom. This brings feelings of confinement and restriction. You feel like your life is full of “have to’s” and obligations. You feel like a slave to whatever it is you don’t have, be it money, a healthy relationship, good health or whatever else you feel you need in order to be happy. The more you think you need something, the more those feelings rule your life and the more elusive the thing you want will be. You do things based on your lack consciousness and life is not fun because you feel your choices are limited and your life is restricted.

When you can’t “Let go,” you experience clinging and the need to control the outcome. The opposite of letting go is to control. When you feel you need something, it actually controls you. If you don’t have something and there is an underlying feeling that you need it, it is impossible to relax and allow the universe to bring that thing to you because you are not letting it go out into the universe. It can’t come back to you if you never let it go in the first place. This is why affirmations don’t work. When you have a thought of something you want, you need to let it go and forget about it, otherwise the universe can’t deliver it because the thought never left your grasp. Your clinging creates a neediness and until you let go, you will keep experiencing more neediness. The more you focus on not having, the more you create of that feeling of not having in your life. This becomes a cycle and you can easily send yourself in a tailspin of never-ending neediness.

When you can not Open up, you are actually closed off. You may not realize this because chances are you “want” to be open to a greater flow of prosperity, love and happiness, good health and fulfillment REALLY REALLY badly but you can not both be open to receiving and feel that you are living in scarcity at the same time. The two thoughts conflict with each other. As long as you are invested in what you don’t have, you restrict yourself from receiving very thing you desire.

When you are not experiencing Well Being, you are experiencing stress and disharmony. Stress is caused by conflicting thoughts, generally a conflict between what you want and what you are afraid will happen. You can not feel a sense of well being and harmony if you are stressed out. In order to feel a sense of well being, you must release all thoughts that conflict with your sense of well being, and be relaxed and open. Stressful thoughts and feelings that inhibit your ability to have a peaceful sense of well being.

I’ll bet you can relate to some if not all of the things that happen when you are not in the flow. We all experience those feelings from time to time and there is a good chance you feel some of that right now, otherwise you would probably wouldn’t be reading this article.

The great news is that you can easily recognize when you are not in the FLOW and can also easily get back into it. First I’m going to tell you what FLOW stands for then I’m going to show you and how to get there.

F – Freedom – When you experience freedom, whether it is financial freedom, freedom within a relationship, freedom of religion or any other freedom, there is a feeling that all is well, regardless of your choices. You feel unrestricted by obligations, or a need to conform and you do things from a place of ease and inner harmony. Because you are in harmony, you tend to make more intuitive choices because you are in alignment with your own well being. When you feel free, you are guided by what feels right and act on those feelings without worrying about an expected outcome based on need.

L – Let Go – When you let go, you release the attachment that something has to happen a certain way, which allows the universe to do its job and show you the most expedient path to your fulfillment. As long as you cling to certain expectations or try and control certain situations, the thing you desire will elude you. When you can let go (and I’m talking truly let go, not wishful thinking or saying that you have let go when really you are freaking out inside) you are then opening yourself up for increased flow in your life, which leads us to the next letter.

O- Open Up – After you have created the inner Freedom and allowed yourself to Let go, you experience an opening and receptivity that allows you to release attachments and be open to what you have called into your experience. Your calls have not gone unnoticed but your need to control things is more of a hindrance than anything else. After you have allowed yourself to open up, you will notice that people and experiences start to become magnetically attracted to you and you will notice more synchronicity in your life. You have had your desires out there for a long time but have not known how to let them in. The more powerful your desire, the more powerfully they are trying to come to you but if you are standing in your own way, they can not come. These steps are preparing you to be open and receptive for your financial well being.

W – Well Being – Well being is experienced when everything is running smoothly and you experience ease and joy in your life. When you experience well being, you are in harmony with life and you can attract your desires from a place of balance, not from a place of need. Well being allows things to come to you far more easily because you don’t have any internal conflict stress or resistance keeping them out of your life. You let go of the need to control things and simply allow for your desires to fall into place.

When you truly live in the FLOW you will not only have more money in your life but you will have mastered the secret to attracting everything! Good luck on your journey toward Financial FLOW!

I always thought that World Awakened would be a hub and then I would create the satellites from the hub.  What I am beginning to see, and what I have always felt is that I am the vision keeper for the World Awakened project and it is my job to find the components that feel in alignment with the project.  I have been finding that there are people out there who are already working in their own way to work on each component and my job is to become a bridge or a hub to connect them all together.

This past week, I had a very interesting experience.  Someone invited me to a social networking site called, JasonsNetwork.com.  After I logged in, I felt like World Awakened had found its social networking home.  I have always felt that the World Awakened Project is FAR too big for me to do alone and have been looking for people to help me with it but I have been approaching it in the wrong way.  It is not my job to start from scratch, it is my job to connect the components that are already in place and for the components that are not in place, I can either create them because that is my passion or I can be patient and allow those components to show up.

I am also joining Laurie Huston of Intuitive Soul for the Radio aspect of the World Awakened project.  At first, I thought Laurie would be coming to World Awakened but that was backwards.  World Awakened needed to make its home on Intuitive Soul.  Laurie already has all the equipment and doing radio work and connecting with people is her passion.  We talked about doing Intuitive Soul on World Awakened but really, World Awakened will have its presence and be promoting Intuitive Soul.

The same thing is going to happen with the Social Networking aspect.  It is not for World Awakened to start a social network, World Awakened is meant to find the right Social Network to add as a collaborative partner.  Please check out our new partners.  Eventually, there will be more cohesion.  This is just the beginning.

So, too, for me, eroding the ego helps one to experience the truth of what they are, some call it Spirit-soul. The truth of our existence that life is a reality to be lived and a dream we are having, both true.

Karma, measure for measure, or to do unto others as you would have done unto you are all an affirmations of the truth that God is one, and how we treat others is, in a direct and practical way, how we treat ourself. We receive what we give. Dalai Lama says:

Everything is one, and this is the truth of our existence. Karma is not another law, but a practical expression of the unity of existence. Everything is one, and that one thing is love. It’s essence may be concealed from our eyes and ears, but if we train ourselves through meditation to see clearly, we see that all is an expression of One great love that is not separate from us, that never end, only changes and forever is…
